Amber Luscombe - runner up

'As a first time visitor to Barcelona, I found it inspiring and unique. Visiting Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia was the highlight of the trip, standing at the very top at sunset was a once in a lifetime opportunity. Gaudi’s Guell Park was also a highlight, together with absorbing the general atmosphere and life of the city through the everyday Architecture.

Participating in the Smarter meetings was interesting and relevant to both my current studies and personal interests, in particular the talks on the master planning of Barcelona and the methods used. Additionally, the presentations of the new technologies being experimented with in lowering energy use across urban environments; the presentations were not only informative but have influenced and enriched my studies since.

The two days were a unique experience and I’d like to take this chance to say thank you to all involved in Smart Energy Regions for granting me the honour as the runner-up, to participate together with the opportunity to visit Barcelona'.
