Since 2001 Monica is a researcher in the field of energy systems analysis and modelling and derivation of sustainable strategies. Her current research interest includes evaluations of the role of local energy systems in efficient resource use and sustainable development, climate change mitigation and smart cities.
Since the late 90's Monica has been participating at the activities of IEA/ETSAP and in several research projects, e.g. IEA/ECBCS Annex 33 "ALEP-Advanced Local Energy Planning” (1997-2000), FP6 IP “NEEDS” (2004-2009), IEE Project “RES2020 “ (2006-2009) and FP7 CP “REACCESS” (2008-2010).
She's actually involved in:
- INTERREG IVC Project “Regional Strategies for Energy Conscious Communities” RENERGY (2012-2014);
- EERA JP “Smart Cities”, SP “Energy in cities” (2011-2014).
- COST Action TU0902 “Integrated assessment technologies to support the sustainable development of urban area” (2009-2013)
